John and Jayne Glynn lost their son Gavin to cancer in 2014. Gavin was just 4.5 years old. Spurred by their own experience of the gross cost of caring for a sick child and travelling to a number of different countries for treatment, The Gavin Glynn Foundation seeks to help families with transportation, accommodation, and expenses when travelling overseas for treatment. Their goal is to “take the financial burden and stress away from the families so they can focus all their time on their child and family.” Social media plays a major role in The Gavin Glynn Foundation by allowing us to broadcast news and updates to our followers but also as a fundraising medium at key times when we need to raise funds. Our audience is global and social is the most effective way of connecting our audiences credibly and effectively.
