Meet the speakers - Jamie White from Leading Social

Can you tell us a little bit about yourself?

  • I'm an award winning entrepreneur and speaker. I've promoted and sold events to over half a million people, hosting some of the biggest names in business & entertainment. I've also created, established and sold CollegeTimes.com & TeenTimes.com, two websites that collectively reached over 100 million millennials weekly. I've achieved all this through social media and now, I work with brands  both nationally and internationally on their social media marketing through my business Leading Social, whilst also publicly speaking on start up business, social media & entrepreneurship

How did you get into your career?

  • As I came out of college, I began hosting and promoting parties in local night clubs, I advertised these purely through social media and this is where I really grew my understanding of how to use and capitalise on social media for a businesses perspective. That was ten years ago and things have only evolved and evolved and we now use many of the same lessons learned back then to help businesses make social media work for them now.

What do you consider the greatest achievement in your work to date?

  • Surviving and adapting in business is everything. Keeping everyone employed and the business steadily growing, thats everything.

How does Social Media support your work?

  • Well our work is social media so without it we wouldn't have a business.

What is the one app you can’t live without? Personally and for your business!

  • Personally I love WhatsApp and for business I'm a big fan of Wunderlist.

What is the one piece of Social Media advice you would give to businesses?

  • Focus on content, review and learn from every post you make and look to improve post by post.

What do you think is the next big thing in Social Media?

  • As the space is moving so fast, I try not to look ahead but instead make the most of whats in front as there is literally so much out there right now and so much possibility. However, with the mass of new advertising products the various mediums are creating, its exciting see how we can deliver greater returns on investment to clients in varying fashions. For the user, the whole VR space and the obvious merging opportunities with social are certainly interesting to consider.

What will your brand/ business be focusing on in the Social Media landscape this year?

  • As our business is really centred around the social media landscape and ensuring it works for our clients, our key aims are always to deliver a growing and transparent return on investment for each of our clients from their work on social media.

What can the attendees of this year’s Social Media Summit look forward to hearing from you?

  • When speaking at an opportunity like this, I like to build my talks around the audience I have in front of me. I do this through spending the majority of my time doing Q&A's, with that, attendees can look forward to getting whatever it is that they specifically want from my time on stage.

What are you most looking forward to at the Social Media Summit this year?

  • For me it’s all about the networking. With such a fantastic speaker line up and guest list, I'm just really excited to meet everyone.
