Meet the speakers- Niall Harbison from The Lovin Group
To start, can you tell us a little bit about yourself?
I started out life as a chef but gave it up at 25 to get involved in the digital media space. I've started a few businesses over the years. Some have been a success, some middle of the road and some have failed. Social media has always been at their core. The latest is the Lovin Group which has 40 staff in 4 countries and which started out as Lovin Dublin.
How did you get into your career?
Self taught when it comes to digital. I was active on social platforms from about 2006 and just immersed myself online into tutorials, videos and anything else I could absorb.
What do you consider the greatest achievement in your work to date?
Probably selling Simply Zesty in 2012 to a PLC which was a social media agency.
How does Social Media support your work?
We are building our entire business on top of Facebook because it gives us huge global reach. I use Instagram and Twitter myself personally to consume content and get the latest news.
What is the one app you can’t live without? Personally and for your business!
Twitter. I post a lot less there now but it is still the best way to get the latest news.
What is the one piece of Social Media advice you would give to businesses?
Produce as much content as you can. If you can afford it, and if it fits your business, hire somebody on content full time. Content marketing is the most profound change in business for years and it just works.
What do you think is the next big thing in Social Media?
People are always looking for the next big thing. I happen to think it is Facebook. It keeps getting bigger and with Whatsapp, Instagram and their other owned platforms the opportunities here will continue to be the biggest. Sometimes the biggest things are the ones staring you right in the face.
What will your brand/ business be focusing on in the Social Media landscape this year?
Doubling down on Instagram. It is a remarkable platform and publishers are just not at the races there yet. We are the biggest in the country by a mile and we want to double down on that.

Honest business hacks powered by social and probably a little swearing.
What are you most looking forward to at the Social Media Summit this year?
Connecting with people in the flesh. Social media is great but meeting people in person forges much deeper relationships
