Meet the speakers - Paul O'Mahony the founder of LeftClickRightClick

To start, can you tell us a little bit about yourself?

I am an entrepreneur, author, product Creator and public speaker specializing in Digital Marketing, Success Mindset and Wealth Management.

After nine years of experience working for a US multinational corporation, I gave up on everything I knew to set up my first digital marketing company in 2010. This company was formed after having some individual success in generating income from a variety of social networks. For example, I made my first two online sales on only my second day attempting to sell using Twitter and built up 30,000 followers in my first month (@Paulomahony). One main interest of mine now is in education of the next generation in how they can be financially free before they leave school using social media and other available free tools on the internet.

How did you get into your career?

I attended an event in Dublin in February 2009 which had approx. ten speakers from outside of Ireland teaching how they were making a full time living from part time businesses on the internet and I was hooked despite knowing nothing about this. Throw Tony Robbins into the mix and I quit my corporate job after doing a fire walk in March 2009 and planned on making millions on the internet LOL.

What do you consider the greatest achievement in your work to date?

That I actually achieved my financial goals despite a complete lack of knowledge in the area of online marketing and social media from the outset and after quitting my job mid recession when everyone around me thought I was crazy.

How does Social Media support your work?

Right across my businesses from lead generation, customer acquisition, relationship management, sales follow up, customer service, reputation management, advertising platforms and in using it to create training products for businesses and entrepreneurs to learn how to use it effectively.

What is the one app you can’t live without? Personally and for your business!

What is the one piece of Social Media advice you would give to businesses?

Know who your target market is, your ideal avatar, and where they hang out and how they view their problems before ever engaging in a social media campaign which has no clear intent.

What do you think is the next big thing in Social Media?

Live video will continue to become more popular, then personalised response video and then virtual reality.

What will your brand/ business be focusing on in the Social Media landscape this year?

Simply put, building a database of people who are looking for the solutions that my business has.

What can the attendees of this year’s Social Media Summit look forward to hearing from you?

Understanding that social media is not a trick or a short cut to success in business. If your business is broken, social media won’t fix it. Social media will just let you know on a much bigger scale that there is a fundamental problem. I will explain how understanding the psychology of your potential clients, and what drives their decisions both emotionally and logically will ultimately determine how well you do with social media.

What are you most looking forward to at the Social Media Summit this year?

Seeing Samantha Kelly’s insights on Twitter and Mari Smith as I am yet to meet her.
